SNTEMP (In)Frequently Asked Questions

Here, you will find a series of questions and answers resulting from many years of technical assistance with SNTEMP and SSTEMP. These (in)frequently asked questions are presented here so that you may get a feel for the range of questions posed, learn from the questions and their "answers," and share in the discussions if you wish. I certainly didn't answer all the questions, nor do I feel like I've got the only answer for them all.

Before reading further, please be advised of the following:

1. To preserve a modicum of confidentiality, I have changed or eliminated the names of rivers, consultants, and anything else that might be too revealing except for some literature citations. This was done largely because I failed to ask permission of most people on whether I could use portions of our correspondence.
2. Often the questions (and answers) may appear to be a bit out of context or "clipped". That's because they have been cut-and-pasted from e-mail logs. I have attempted to clean them up as much as practical and add some context, but some stumbles may remain. I have also cut out much of the "banter" and have cleaned up the grammar and language if appropriate.
3. Some questions are redundant. I have, however, kept them separate if I gave a different answer. This helps me recognize how variable I can be at times, though a part of the variability has to do with the context of the question. Occasionally, I have combined questions and answers if there was no new information to be gained.
4. Occasionally I have included answers from other people consulted. Their names appear in brackets.
5. Questions are organized into rough categories, but like any categorization scheme, there are imperfections.
