A new paper, "Causes of Bat Fatalities at Wind Turbines: Hypotheses and Predictions," published in the December 2009 issue of the Journal of Mammalogy and has been selected as the featured article for that journal on BioOne. It will be available as an open-access publication (free to download) for the next few months at http://www.bioone.org/doi/abs/10.1644/09-MAMM-S-076R1.1. Lead author and USGS scientist Paul Cryan is actively involved in research to discover the underlying causes of, and potential ways to reduce, bat fatalities at wind turbines.
