Research Task: 8327CMP.1.0
Task Manager: Nina Burkardt
The Legal-Institutional Analysis Model (LIAM) has been used for approximately 20 years to diagnose natural resource management conflicts. To ensure that LIAM remains current, ongoing research and scholarship in this area must be evaluated and incorporated into the model. One means of incorporation will be in the background statement presented in the LIAM software, another will be literature reviews in papers reporting LIAM results. Additionally, the results of this process can be used to revise LIAM questions to reflect the most current thinking about elements of the LIAM roles. Most recently, work was completed to add to the explanatory power of the LIAM by following LIAM data collection with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) techniques. Further work is underway to incorporate the AHP techniques into the LIAM model so that a standard LIAM application will include the AHP.
