USGS Scientist in Leadership Role with Ecological Society of America

USGS ecologist Jill Baron is incoming Secretary to the Ecological Society of America, meeting August 5-10 in Madison, Wisconsin. Baron organized and will moderate two symposia for this meeting, "Local Ecosystem Effects of Climate Change: The Interaction Between Climate, Societal Decisions, and Ecosystems," and "Nitrogen Deposition in the Western U.S.– Is There a Cause for Concern?" Baron will also present "Sources of Nitrogen Emissions to the South Platte Basin and State of Colorado," a paper co-authored with Arvin Mosier of the Agricultural Research Service. Three of her graduate students and one post-doctoral student are presenting results of their collective research on the ecological effects of nitrogen deposition to high-elevation ecosystems.
